brown sugar は実際には黒砂糖ではない。含むものではあるようだが、端的に表す日本語はないようだ。「赤砂糖」という言葉があるが、耳慣れないし、これも同じものというわけではないようだ。また、カタカナで「ブラウン・シュガー」と言っても、そのはっきりした定義はないそうだ。

along of は英国の方言で「…のせいで、…のために」（『ランダムハウス』） worrit と worry はほぼ同じ。 get cold は「冷淡になる」のほか「おじけづく、逃げ腰になる」の意があると「英辞郎」にあった。

short はここでは「小さな」と訳したが、「みじかい」で思い出した。 「みじかい」は漢字では「短い」だから、「みじかすぎる」は「短すぎる」か「短過ぎる」になるが読みにくい。 「短かすぎる」「短か過ぎる」の方が読みやすいと思う。 「みじかっ！」と叫ぶのを漢字にすると「短っ！」になってしまったりもする。
